Bank of Indonesia

We’re thrilled to share the launch of our market penetration program, in collaboration with the Bank of Indonesia Representative Central of Java, aimed at helping Indonesian SMEs and local artisans bring their heritage products to the European market. This initiative is all about showcasing the rich cultural craftsmanship and sustainable innovations that Indonesia has to offer.Through pop-up stores in key European cities, (starting in Antwerpen) we are creating a platform for Indonesian artisans and small businesses to connect with eco-conscious consumers who value high-quality and sustainable products.

Bank of Indonesia Representative Central of Java sponsors the export of the products, allowing more to go directly to the producers. “We really want to establish partnerships between Antwerp-based companies and local makers from Indonesia. Because we would work without intermediaries, everyone benefits the most. And what we’re already doing with the pop-ups is that all proceeds go entirely to the makers.”

Indonesian Ambassador: “We really want to establish partnerships between Antwerp-based companies and local makers from Indonesia. Because we would work without intermediaries, everyone benefits the most. And what we’re already doing with the pop-ups is that all proceeds go entirely to the makers.” Indonesia is teeming with islands, so we have an abundance of shells, perfect for making plates. The coffee tables are made from fossils we’ve excavated from the ground. All the wooden furniture and tableware is crafted from dense wood that’s resistant to all weather conditions, which is necessary in a country like Belgium. There’s also a small village that exclusively makes these woven handbags. “We also make coffee tables from petrified wood: it’s formed when a tree completely turns to stone as all organic material is replaced by minerals. No living trees are cut down for this, so local makers focus on recycling materials, like wood waste to create their furniture.”
